Stop the Project as Currently Proposed

What do you mean by "as currently proposed"?

We are not trying to deny a property owner their right to use their property.  But the project must follow the law regarding building height as it affects protected views of the hills and ridgelines. At 34 feet high and 500 feet long, it is simply too big.

Legal aspects:

The Environmental Impact Report (EIR) on the project has admitted that the project is not in compliance with multiple sections of the City Land Use Plan (LUP).  Largely, this is an issue of the size of the project impinging upon the views, which are protected visual resources in our LUP.

City and Coastal Commission regulations clearly state that if a project does not conform to the LUP, a development permit (CDP) cannot be issued. There are no exceptions to this rule.

We need your public input to help give the City Council the public backing to clearly and decisively deny the permit for the Hyatt project. They are under a lot of pressure to grant approval, even if that goes against regulations.

What you can do:

1.  Attend the late January 30, 2025 City Council meeting to hear the appeal of the denial on the project.  In person or Zoom, your real time comments to council are very important. Details here

2.  Sign the petition

3. Write to the City Council - today!

4.  Please donate what you can to help us get the word out  - our costs are website and email hosting, printing, advertising:  https://gofund.me/8e3c5944

Every little bit helps - thank you!
